The Zillow Transaction and Assessment Database (ZTRAX)—the country’s largest housing and real estate dataset—is now accessible to researchers through ICPSR at the University of Michigan's Institute for Social Research. Since Zillow ceased distributing ZTRAX in October 2023, this transfer returns a valuable resource to the research community, offering public records covering more than 20 years and over 2,750 counties across the United States. Representative of ICPSR: Paula Lackie
Meet Paula Lackie, an ICPSR Representative and Carleton College’s Academic Technologist for Data.
Q: What is a favorite memory or instance you have working with ICPSR? What makes ICPSR a great place?
A: I found my people at my first ICPSR OR meeting in … probably 1989-ish. I was a graduate student and the OR for USC – but with the support from ICPSR to attend the OR meeting, I could just barely swing the cost. I’m so glad that I did! I attended Chuck Humphrey’s little workshop on being an OR and the realization that I could do this work for a living was such a relief! ICPSR is a great place because of the longstanding dedication to supporting the responsible reuse of research data.

Looking for ICPSR’s Love Data Week Webinars?
Love Data Week is in the rearview, but if you’re looking for ICPSR’s webinars, you’re in luck! The recordings are now available on our YouTube channel! If you need data tips or just want to stay in the know, there’s something for everyone. Check them out and share with others.
Speaking of Love Data Week, shoutout ICPSR member institutions, the University of South Carolina, Clemson University, and Coastal Carolina University, who shared a photo from Love Data Week. “This year, the three South Carolina data librarians banded together to create a unified South Carolina Love Data Week. We created branding that incorporated the colors of our three institutions, logos, and swag at one of the institution’s maker spaces. We then delivered shared virtual programming in addition to local programming at each campus,” said Ms. Stacy Winchester, ICPSR's Official Representative (OR) at the University of South Carolina.
