Dear ICPSR Community:
After months of user research, content updates and reduction, navigation improvements, a new design, and the implementation of new, underlying content-management technologies, we are thrilled to announce that the refreshed ICPSR website has launched!
In addition to a more modern look, ICPSR’s website refresh provides the following benefits:
-
Primary and sub-navigation updated based on user/your feedback
-
Ability to port website visitors more quickly to where they want to go
-
Streamlined search for non-data site content (see ‘Search’ in top-right corner)
-
Removal of duplicate content and outdated pages
-
Centralized FAQs – Help & User Guide
-
Ability for ICPSR staff to update content almost immediately
(Please note that our study/data content, study URLs, and data-related search results were not impacted by this remodeling project, but will be soon!)
Updating your links
The ICPSR website is still found at icpsr.umich.edu, but you will notice that the URL resolves to https://www.icpsr.umich.edu/sites/icpsr/home. Indeed, with new technologies, our URLs have had to change.
If you have bookmarked or linked to ICPSR within resources such as LibGuides, this would be a great time to update your links. While many of the old links will be redirected, it is especially important to review links that were used in our old spaces known as Share Data and Data Management; per your feedback, these sections have merged, and the old URLs/pages no longer exist.
More Coming Soon
As with any full remodel, ICPSR had more on the to-do list than could be completed by the launch date; therefore, there will be some minor changes over the course of the next few weeks as we fully exit our old technologies and move still more of our project sites to the new platform. We appreciate your patience as we work our way through the punch list!
Reporting Problems
If you notice content or functionality problems or receive error pages, we encourage you to forward that information to our User Support team at icpsr-help@umich.edu. Please be sure to include the link to the page where the error occurred, a screenshot of the issue if possible, and the type of device and browser you are using. This significantly increases our tech team’s efficiency in diagnosing and resolving issues.
