In 2006, Ronald Dworkin published Justice in Robes, a collection of essays rather than a systematic theory constructed in his work Law’s Empire. However, the focus of the argument in Justice in Robes is clear. It includes discussions and criticisms of pragmatism, analysis of law and economics, legal positivism, constitutional interpretation, and even John Rawls’ political philosophy. In a sense, this book advanced the radicalization of legal interpretivism, aligning with his idea of justificatory ascent, and delving into the importance of legal theory. This online reading group aims to spend nearly a semester reading Justice in Robe and further explores Dworkin’s another work Justice for Hedgehogs. We welcome anyone who is interested to join us.
